What if it was me?

The smile on my lips,
its pure bliss.
But you burned my heart,
and now it won't function right.

I tried to hope that we had it,
I can't seem to find it,
and my hope has diminished,
fading of into my distant memory.

Now you're drifting,
you were all alone,
but then she came along,
I can't help but wish.

What if that was me?
In your arms that night,
listening to your laugh.
Kissing your smile.

What if it was me,
telling you I loved you?

What if it was me?
