What I Am Not

Location

When someone looks at me,
they have only begun to know me.
My appearance isn't who I am.
I am not the curvature of my nose.
I am not the shape of my face.
I am so much more.

When someone talks to me,
they have only just met me.
My speech is not who I am.
I am not the pitch of my voice.
I am not the inflections in my tone.
I am so much more.

When someone spends time with me,
they have only just begun to learn me.
My mannerisms aren't who I am.
I am not the way sit around my house.
I am not the quirky things I do.
I am so much more.

When someone listens when I speak my mind,
they have only just begun to understand me.
My spoken thoughts aren't who I am.
I am not what I think about the day.
I am not what I ponder meaninglessly.
I am so much more.

When I listen to my thoughts at night,
I have only just begun to connect with myself.
My inner mind is who I am.
I am my feelings.
I am what makes me cry at three in the morning.
But I am so much more.
