Ok, So We know what hip-hop is,

but we really get it?

Its more than trying put on an act and performing a skit.

You have rappers nowadays that make no sense,

trying go on the attack with any defense.

Hip-hop is more than music,

It comes from heart.

A simple beat and rhyme is simply just a start,

Another thing, hip-hop is another form of art,

brought into existence for all to listen.

Here me out, i ask of you,

listen to my words,

i'm trying to speak a truth,

about how this music we listen to

influences our youth

mvp verse

the words that artists define their style of music

its originality was the reason hip hop was born

from breakdancing, spinning one's head on cardboard boxes

track suits with designing haircuts

music that consists the ingredients of

boom box, turntable, system sounds,and a mic

creativity epitomize the foundation of music that built from the ground up

we all fell in love with hip hop

where rappers and artists brought out the best of one another

where beef was settle through records

nowadays, settlement consists of shootouts in studios and clubs

insults of someone's wife and kids

wars because of words that a person exercises the freedom of speech

music in this generation absolutely sucks

songs with monotanous auto-tune beats

lyrics that phonetically disrespects even hooked on phonics with senseless usage of words

deplorable messages in which these clowns justify one's behavior

misleading the youths to believe that their fantasies is their realities

degrading women by calling them outside their names other than baby and mami

you don't comprehend what they are saying

sounds like robin williams's dialect when he said "nano" "nano" "nano" in mork and mindy

a young rapper quoted saying rap needs to go back to lyrics

very refreshing to hear

yet he's being criticize

seems like hip hop has transform music that is cultivating

to a culture of stupidity that is not innovating

This poem is powerful and it speaks the truth. Rap and music has changed so much and not in a good way. It's about time we spoke about it instead of sitting back and letting it get worse. Keep writing on my friends.
