What Do I See In The Mirror?

When I used to look in the mirror

I saw a girl who's future was ever nearer.

She knew people in the world were crying.

She know people in the world were lying.

She knew the earth was dying.

She was scared.

Scared of failing.

Scared of all the responsibilities.

Scared of the pain and struggle life brings.

This is what I used to see when I looked in the mirror.

However, now I see determination.

Determination to help people.

Determination to become a protector of earth.

Determination to make the best of everyday.

Determination to take on every obstacle.

Determination to succeed.

And so,

I try, indefatigably, to make my world better.

I know I may not be able to change the world myself.

I know I may not be able to save everyone.

But how ashamed I would be if I didn't try.

To change your world,

The first step is to change yourself.

Sometimes, I still see a glimmer of fear,

But I know that I am no longer that girl,

and it too shall pass.

I am... hopeful.
