What Do I See?
i’m always looking around on the street waiting to see the people i’d meet – A businessman in a rush, getting something to eat A couple so old, can barely walk on their feet. i look down at myself. What do i see? Dirty hands. A Stain on my shirt. A Scraped knee. One last wish to break out and flee - A dream Lost in a sea of tears. Don’t you agree? Sometimes i wish i could drown in my tears. A silent scream only i could hear. Kicking. Crying. Hiding from my Fears. i wonder how i could stand another year. There are times when i want to cheat. To think i could do it without skipping a beat. Just go to my computer and press Delete. Make my life become Obsolete. i have nothing to lose, nothing at all. i’m a person so Tiny, so Little, so Small. Just an ugly flower stuck to the wall Unwanted, Helpless, Waiting to fall. One last time i look around My head barely floating, ready to drown – Ready to lose to the chains i am bound Twisting, Flailing… but then there’s a sound. i look to my left. What do i hear? A child’s Laughter lingers in the air, A whisper, “I love you” by a woman so fair. A Melody sung with a voice so clear. i look to my right. What do i smell? Peanuts roasting within their shell. A Summer’s Breeze built up in a swell – Stirring a mem’ry as clear as a bell. That summer i made a glorious Feat, To cross the finish line, no sign of defeat – After those years pushed on the concrete Left there on the ground, alone on the street Then i see that businessman come with a Smile, A burger in hand, lies ten singles in a pile And that old couple that couldn’t walk a mile? Hands clasped together making life Worthwhile. I look down at myself, what do I see? A Survivor. A Dreamer. Not bound by decrees – With a bucket list as long as the river Yangtze – A Visionary without a vision. Truly Free. In life we cannot sit back and play possum, No matter how much we may feel lonesome, For when all seems to die, the only option is to Blossom – And that, is what makes life so Awesome.

Amazing! I love the pacing of the ryhmes and how the poem came back around, full circle, to the beginning and also added a message and stayed on topic. <3
