Welcome
Welcome to Society
We hope you enjoy your stay
And please feel free to be yourself
As long as its in the right way
Make sure you love your body
But not too mch or we'll tear you down
We'll bully you for smiling
Then wonder why you frown
We'll tell you that you're worthless
That you shouldn't make a sound
And cry with the others
When you're buried in the ground
You can fall in love with anyone
As long as it's who we choose
And we'll let you have your opinions
Bjut please shape them to our views
Welcome to society
We promise that we won't decieve
And one more rule now that you are here
Is that
You can never leave
Welcome to society
I don't know what this world has come to
Some say that I've been thinking too much
We're moving too fast to keep our heads on straight
And I can feel the despair in this forsaken place
With rules ever-changing
Remember don't end up hanging
From that ceiling fan
Or in that closet
That you are told never to come out from
Or you'll be buried alive
With comments that are meant to deprive
Your sould wll be toyed with
Youre emotions destroyed
But remember to survive
Welcome to society
It's all just a game in the end
With no scoreboard
It's been rigged from the beginning
If you don't conform you'll be left digging
Your own grave
So don't be brave, just behave
And become one in the line
Unnoticeable by all those at your side
We don't forget who've died
But decide to ignore those who are alive
Welcome to society
We don't want you to thrive
I don't know what this world has come to
Some say that I've been thinking too much
We're moving to fast to keep our heads on straight
And I can feel the despair in this forsaken place
What a world we've made
But your soul will slowly decay
And for every devision you make
You almost throw your life away
Don't forget about your social status
How many likes your picture gets
And that's what we've been teaching to our kids
If they don't conform they're outcasts
The odd ones out
Left to figure it out
And we wonder where their anger is left to spout
With no ways to let it out
We get school shootings
Kids killing their mentors and their friends
'Cause they don't understand
That life gets better in the end
We teach them to be afraid
Of this world that we've made
But welcome to society I guess.
[NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR]
So I know this is a little long for a poem, and I would like to thank you for getting this far and reading all of "Welcome". This started out as a small six line poem that eventually grew to what it is today. I never thought that my late night poem would evolve into the song it its today. I am currently also recording this into an acutal song and plan to upload it to youtube and soundcloud. Thank you so much for your time, and I hope you enjoyed welcome.
