We must never forget.

One day I knew that I would be here

Fighting for what is right so that you might be near

To the family that you do so cherish

Because of you, I could very well parish.

I do this with love

Because that is the way.

The way I was taught,

And the way I was raised.

Yet, still I am not provided with what I need.

A home, a bed, and some food to feed me.

I sat on a battle field,

So that you may know,

That America is great because of the show.

The show I watch all day and all night

Because I want you all at home safe and out of sight.

All I ask for is some service,

So that when I return, these dreams might vanish.

I strain every day to get where I’m going

Because all my fears keep on growing.

The men I fought with look down on me

Because I’m not whole, at least not like I used to be.

The doctor says that I will be fine,

But I stand alone on the borderline.

The borderline that separates me from the rest;

I would rather be like the best.

My comrades that have fallen

Look upon me.

They fill me with sorrow,

And I hold onto the memories that filled me with glee.

I want to be with them,

So I think I might go.

I will watch from heaven

As you all play to and fro.

Tell them that it wasn’t their fault.

I will always love what they did for me.

My family, my friends.

They all fought beside me.

The U. S. of A. is such a great nation,

Why is it that veterans cannot receive some form of compensation?

Because of the lack of moral support,

So many veterans feel as if they only have one last resort.

The numbers are keep climbing,

And people are afraid

That their loved ones are next to march the black parade.

However, we may mend these troubling thoughts

With a little bit of magic in the mixing pot.

All we need to do for our vets

Is make sure that we never forget

That we will always be in their debt.

For this debt will always keep us knowing

The reason we are free is because of the outgoing.

Give some support and make sure they know,

That we are all eternally grateful for the nation they helped grow.

A nation of sacrifice and one that can be,

The very best nation because we are free.

While we take our freedom for granted,

They are looking for someone to help them in their times of need.

Yet, we cannot provide them this,

Because all we see is our own greed.

To make our nation better,

We must look upon ourselves

To cherish our nation’s veterans

And give them a piece of ourselves.
