We could create the internet

An immeasurable amount of information

Stored in just as many networks

But we could not keep children safe from exploitation.

We could start wars overseas

send our boys to fight for our lives

And give beautiful funerals when they die

But not provide for them when they survive.

We could create the submarine

And echolocate our way through the sea

Find ships of our enemies

But not keep those same oceans clean.

We are a nation of immigrants.

We are a nation of diversity

We are a nation courage and hate

And we need to understand that, universally.

We need change

We need to live consciously

We need to come together

And end these atrocitities
