We Can't Be Alone in the Dark

Cold skin, open arms

The warmest I’ve felt in years

Unwilling to fall for such common charm

I could fall for anyone near

Dangerous to be so close to me

Just as dangerous to be close to you

But alone think of just how alonely I’d be

Plus, you seem to be quite lonely, too

The scars of my last love from so far away

Still keep me up late and awake

Though I hate to say it, the memories stay

To the point that it’s too much to take

Caution is needed,

A wall or a wire, for the sake of saving our necks

But I know my own warnings aren’t heeded

Tomorrow, together we’ll both be a wreck

Tonight as the storm rages violently on

For you, I’ll let myself forget

For at least until the breaking of dawn

That love drains your blood, tears, and sweat
