We Are Individuals

Location

I am much more than another number,
Generated in cold scantron machines,
Counted by people who don't remember,
When they were under this scheme.

I've seen them, though, stop and look,
As if in a trance, at their students.
Sorrow on their face as water in a brook,
Asking if their work is truly so prudent.

The system may ask for higher test scores
But the society begs for higher love.
Does an A+ in Chemistry mean so much more
Than another stressed kid praying to the above?
