the waves 

against the shore

how it tickles your ankles 

lapping up against the shore 

even as it crashes hard 

the water coming to 

your waist 

knocks you back 

but comes around 

as if to say 

"saved you"

hugging you

with more love and promise than

any person ever could 

the waves 

don't leave you 

like a person 

they stay 

pushing and catching you 

for all eternity
