Watching

Location

Days fly by and nights linger coldly, And I stand watching through the window, As the sands of time slip through the hourglass slowly, And yet I am ever-still as I keep vigil over those below. The surrounded solitude I keep, I am ever lonesome but never lonely, And for me neither demons nor angels alike will weep, For I am content with my existence which is always full and always empty. The people I watch whose lives are so very shallow, They are so full of artifice and untruth, Yet I can't help but smile at the way their fake smiles come and go, Because the tears that stain my face and the shadows that lengthen around me are the only truth.
