The War

Lay down your head and succumb to the silence
It’s only hell in this asylum
Hearing no whispers at night
As if it is your burial site

Lay down your head and stop those tears
Ignore of the painful, heart wrenching fears
There’s nothing left but light
Just spread your wings and take flight

Lay down that weapon
If there is no objection
Rise up above the war
And stop to look at the gore

Lift up all the bodies
And lay them in a field of poppies
Where they can lie peaceful
And become equal

We fight this war because of separation
When we should fight for liberation
For nothing else but our selves and our families
Fight for something worth it I believe
