walls free of chisel

the mysteries of genetics

have conspired against me

blotting, bulging, blackening.

tearing at a person staring

shredding my hope of decency

my one wish to be clear

and free

a quick flick, checking cold dark

screen. falling action, denouement

as epiphany appears like a splash

shocking, water blown with surprise

as in a chance, a redefining moment

what a thing is is not what others say

not broken, bent

i rise and fall as do blemishes,

but so time and nation and all

no different are my trials, not unique

my flaws--no. by fights and resistance

value shatters expectation, building walls

flawless walls, smooth no mark of cruel chisel

never fall.
