walks, strides, marches

from the steps of lewis and clark

to the marches of those fighting

war of 1812,

mexican american 1846

civil war 1861

the boats of immigrants wanting better life

the powerful strides of those sticking up

for what they believe in

civil rights 1963

solidarity day 1981

women's marches 2017

we may not all be the same;

but we must not tear others down

because we all bleed red white and blue
