Walking Blind

We're blinded by many things

Sadness

Joy

Anger

Caught up in the passion of a moment

That will pass and leave you crashing into empty nothing

We're blinded by empty things

Bitterness

Resentment

Unforgiveness

We let ourselves fall prey to our rash thoughts

Rash behavior, praying that we can place the blame on anything besides ourselves

Blame the schools

Blame the religious folk

Blame the politicans

Blame the mailman for bringing you a tragic letter he had no part in writing

We walk blindly into situations

And blindly point fingers when the situation goes wrong

So let me be the one to untie the blindfold

And point at the one staring back at me from the mirror

No need to beat myself up

But

I have a responsibility to own my dirt

And for what it's worth, I have alot

What can I do about it?

I can share my dirt with the strangers on the street

And they can hear my words and get the courage to do the same

Taking off blindfolds to see the people we neglected to see before

Pointing and blame will no longer be who we are

But putting down our pride and needs to carry each others burdens will take this world far
