Waiting For The Raffle

I come to functions alone

Sit and watch the couples and the crowds

It's kind of nice watching them buzz around me

While I float past and through

People seem to know each other

Not sure how

Aren't they new like me?

The weather is nice

If you don't count the smoke

What's a little air pollution?

A nice cocktail with the viral particles

The breeze is pleasant

I sip my lemonade

A nice treat

$5 for the jumbo tub, $1 for the tip

Please and thank you

The breeze is a tad chilly, to be honest,

But just a bit

Me and the undergrads

Whizzing round the town square

The music isn't too loud. I like it. It's considerate.

If the music were too loud I could not stay on this nice green lawn.

The conversation is almost too much for me anyway.

Lots of smells in the air.

Wet dog and grass and smoke and perfume and sweet fruits

The scents fade in and out like conversation

Always there, not always noticed
