The Visitor

Dear Stress,

You have not been kind.

You used to be bearable.

You used to come in waves, and

You used to come from out of nowhere.

You would visit me here and there, but

You now visit me daily.

You came from everywhere.

You came from schoolwork.

You came from homework.

You came from any work.

You came from my dad’s cancer.

You came with his death.

You came from my own illness.

You came from the stress of others, and

You came from the stress others put on me.

You visit me when I’m doing anything.

You visit me when I’m studying.

You visit me when I’m relaxing.

You visit me when I’m alone.

You visit me when I’m with people.

You visit me everywhere.

You visit me at all times.

You were starting to tear me down.

But you aren’t any more.

I’m finding ways to get around you.

I’m finding ways to deal with you.

I’m finding ways to kick you out of my house.

I’m finding ways to ignore you.

I’m getting over you.
