I am going away.

My time of departure is nearing.

But I very much want to stay.

 

Will I be happy to go? Nay,

I will miss dearly what I am leaving.

I am going away.

 

I've held onto membership as long as I may

And with 12 years behind me to college I'm going.

But I very much want to stay.

 

My grade school years have been happy and gay-

Every one has been full of meaning.

I am going away.

 

I know that I will be okay

In the new chapter of life I am starting.

But I very much want to stay.

 

To the 4-H program, I would like to say 

"Thank you" for making my soul sing!
