VICTORIA

Through all this life I've never truly seen

This sharp a green or any deeper blue

Upon purest white skin these kisses be

Than what I see each coming year in you.

When days are long and nights are kept at bay,

And people gather by your side to see

You brightly clad in sparkling light of day

And in between reflecting fire for me.

Although for all the rest the year your dress

Will fade, a dull and greyest memory,

Upon your shores much love and life do rest;

As constant as your age-old scenery.

Though never will you hear, or breathe, or see,

Victoria your life will outlive me
