Very Unlikely

do you ever stop to think about

how very unlikely it all is?

very unlikey.

think about it.

you exist, and while not impossible,

the odds were still against you.

for you to exist,

to be here right now,

so many events had to have happened

in an exact, specific way,

or you would not.

all of your ancestors

had to be able to find mates

and survive until their genetics

could be passed on,

which was quite a bit more difficult then

than it is now.

to be where you are,

your ancestors had to have gone

from whatever ancestral homeland they originated from

only to move somewhere else

in search of a better life,

over and over again

until you came along.

there are 26 letters

in the english alphabet,

which combine into

a nearly infinite number of words,

extending into other languages,

any number of which were combined

to form your name.

to look the way you do,

traits were either dominant or recessive,

a distinct mixing pool that came

from both your parents

and your ancestors.

you were born on earth,

and that, in itself,

is extremely unlikely.

there are billions of trillions of stars

each with their own unique planets encircling them.

and earth is nothing

but a tiny speck in comparison

to the entire universe.

thanks to all of that surviving

and passing on of genetics,

you are here today,

the way you are today.

the extremely unlikely combination

of extremely unlikely circumstances

that is you.

and while very unlikely,

it is still pretty awesome

when you really think about it.
