Romans 8:12-13         New English Translation

12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh 13 (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.

 

Urgency

 

The flesh used to mean the body, that’s where flesh was magnified

The products of the one I see in the morning looking in the mirror

Talk, thought, and action should be put aside and so be crucified

And then all seem to be all-right until I found self in a state of horror

 

That the flesh can never be justified before the only true God, Almighty

Although opposing forces pull at me as they seem to appear so dominant

The old man with all his habits and the “new” I start in opposite corners

And meet somewhere in the middle to slug it out in an artificial-deep trance

 

Sin is so harmful to the body and it is manifested so often in the flesh

It appears like spiritual leprosy for sure to the mind and deeper thought

Starting to recognize me in the appearance as a product of degradation

Someone who cannot endure and not worth that great price when I was bought  

 

The end of this is death I know, there is no doubt about it

My spirit, soul, and body there seems lifeless in the sand

Until it dries up in the Son so far beyond recognition

As the eternal swallows me according to God’s plan

 

To be crucified with Christ is the need for all who hunger to live

To move so close to the Cross, that it splinters pierce your back

To die right there to temporal time and then to be resurrected

The Way to Life Himself and so never to look or be turned back

 

The Cross then moves with the Spirit and accompanies “your” life

Every day my spirit will inhale, what the Cross has accomplished

And so forever to enjoy and experience the fullness of God’s Love

As the temporal universe and temporal time appear to be abolished
