Urban Versus Rural

I viewed the outside, quick flashes running across the glass.

A land filled with industry, innovation, and laborious men.

Such opulence and prosperity, even carts filled with brass,

No one can compare what is now with what was then.

Near a river, gold and riches lie upon the bend,

In the form of houses, buildings and luxurious fit.

But look closely to the water, lifeless in its trend,

It is a opaque, filled with muck and much of it.

The flashes are faster with polluted air,

We traverse factories expelling hazardous waste,

Making the quality of life oh less than fair,

It may seem as if what were vital in life is misplaced.

Soon a land appears, one that is fertile, with lots of vegetation.

The waters and landscapes are beautiful, crystal clear.

But possessions become scarce after traversing the year.

I am conflicted.

Both such beautiful places to live.

However, in both I'd be restricted,

Because I would have something to give.
