Upside-Down

Lovers hold hands

So instead let’s hold feet

Hands can let go

But feet chain us free

We’ll walk about town on our

Blistered black hands

But we’ll never stray far; our ankles

Made friends

They’ve rooted

We grow

Together we flow

We can never regress

Just over-impress

Out fingerprints tousle the soul’s thick hair

While our feet swim so smooth through the volcanic air

The sun bakes our soles and our souls til it burns

Still we find that, alone, we make endless wrong turns

Hermits’ hearts crumble under wrongly-placed crowns

So spend life with me instead,

Upside-down.
