Upcoming Past

In limbo here I lie,

Trying to find an excuse, a reason to try,

But as I think of the upcoming past,

I remember that I am so not up to the task.

So I crawl in my shell and hide,

Just waiting for God as life passes by.

Again, I retreat into my shell,

As I wait for the evil to drag me back to hell.

I know what lies ahead;

Nothing but pain and no tears to shed.

I know what lies behind,

Keep it in the darkness, the light it won't shine.

Keep it hidden just like my pride.

Keep it hidden somewhere deep inside.
