Everyday we try and find a new reason to stay.

Passing train signs that promise us a way out of our own minds

Trying to skip boulders as if small stones,

We take refuge in our sleep,

We let our eyes close.

They say to look inside ourselves to find what really matters.

That once we find it, our stress will only weigh as much as feathers.

Revisit our haunted pasts

Only to be left feeling like we just got through a car crash.

Some say we should live and learn

But how can we when luck skips our turn?

That's when we realize there are no second chances.

Our lives have resulted upon our many lies.

To the world and to ourselves we build this lonely enterprise.

We're fighting for some truth within ourselves.

How can we rise above if our own thoughts hold us like prison cells?
