Unrequited

I feel so small in a large wild world.

I would do anything for you,

and I mean less to you than the dust–

kicked up beneath your worn down shoes.

It’s softly destroying me,

your passive authority.

There are so many people in my life,

why then, does your opinion mean so much?

why is your approval necessary for my survival?
