unlike the rest of us

South Africa

his got a chip over his shoulder,
why should i listen to him?
he talks bad about management.
i love my job and;
i am sick and tired of naggers.
whiners sit idly the whole shift,
expect to earn big money--
for doing absolutely nothing.
no one owes somebody a damn thing.
black people,
let us stop hiding behind ancestry,
what somebody did to forefathers--
has nothing to do with our rage,
i have seen a lot working hard,
achieving great things because,
unlike the rest of us,
they travel a road less travelled.

This poem speaks to the types of frustration that many people have in regard to their skin color and how that connects to their work experience. However, you describe how just as long as you try your best, you can succeed, which is something that people often need to be reminded of.
