The Unheard

Walking on the chiseled stone,
She ponders what she must say.
In blind fear for the unknown,
She trembles in the hallway.

She hesitates at the door,
anxiety holds her fast.
She enters facing him, for,
the time has come at long last.

She speaks to him with passion;
he stares back, eyes void of space.
Ignored with a cold fashion,
she feels a worthless disgrace.

He remains unaffected,
her desperate plea unheard.
The girl's hope is rejected,
her thoughts considered absurd.

She gives up, ceasing to speak,
he never cared to listen.
She knows her future is bleak,
and on her cheeks tears glisten.

Sent out without any care,
she roams through the filthy street.
Wallowing in dark despair,
she accepts her end, defeat.

He continues to condemn,
with no graceful mercy shown.
With his royal diadem,
He sits on his hardened throne.
