Under Dog

Location

Do you feel that?

The cold chain wrapped around your wrist.

Holding you close,

You can’t move.

Do you hear that?

The sound of the wind rushing by your ears as the world stays silent.

Forced to as one man,

Says we must stay silent.

Do you taste that?

The coppery tang of blood sweeping over your tongue,

Stop biting down,

You can’t get the tape off.

Do you smell that?

The smell of despair, of fear;

Of hate.

Do you see that?

Something new;

Marching towards us.

Taking the tape off our mouths,

Helping us stand.

Whispering softly in our ears,

“You have the power.”

One by one we break our chains and we walk.

We walk towards our own enemy.

Different for every soul.

Every one of us fights a different battle.

But each of us fights a similar one,

So we will help each other.

We will rise above.

And we will fight;

To never be the underdog again.
