Uncommonly common

I AM...

I am the child that dreamed,  the child that believed, the child who saw wide open doors.

I am the child who grew up Inglewood, the child who was different, the child that just wanted to be normal.

I am the child who had to grow up fast, the child that lost his faith early, the child that cried himself to sleep.

I am the child that heard every firework at night, the child who knew those weren't fireworks, the child who had to watch his brother lay hopelessly.

I am the child that loves this city, the child that see's glory in struggle, the child that smiles when his back is against the wall.

I am the child that became a man, the man who carries god's cross on his back, the man who has a future.

I am the man who is first generation American, the man who plays sports not for fun but for the career opportunity, the man that has to be all about my business so my family doesn't.

I am the man who has a story, the man with the story that almost everyone has heard, the man who's life is just like everyone else's in Inglewood.

I am the man who is one in a million, the man who can't afford to fail, the man who is uncommonly common.

I am the man who still believes, the man who still has dreams, the man who's doors are closing fast.

I am the man who is just a man, nothing more nothing less, a man who controls his own destiny.

I am the proud son of Immigrants, the proud brother of two, the proud product of Inglewood.

I am the man that loves being uncommonly common.

Just a fraction of my life put in words. I'm like everyone, just different.
