Uncertainty and Me

I can never know just what will happen

With my hour, my day, my year, my life

All uncertain, unknown. My mind lost in

Thought, about if I’ll hold a surgical knife

By a patient unsure what will follow

Like I am now, wond’ring about my fate.

If only it were so simple to swallow

Not knowing, simply having to wait

Yet, if I were to know, then I would lose

Meaning. I’d have more knowledge than needed

With the future known, leaving me to cruise

Through each boring day, at the end cheated.

And so I let my desire to know

Fall away; And thus leave myself to grow.
