Unashamed

Why should I be afraid?

Why would you be scared?

How do we overcome fear,

When doubt is so close and present?

Where can we find peace?

Where is there solace from the pain?

What have I done to bring so much hatred,

When all I did was stand for the truth?

How does the bitter sword cut so deep?

When will the searing pain come to an end?

Where did my faith disappear to?

Why am I so lonely?

I am no longer bound by fear.

I will not tolerate the injustices performed.

I may look like a fool, but I am certain,

I must close the final curtain.

The truth must be proclaimed.

Every nation and soul must hear.

I will stand for what is right,

Even if I must stand alone.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
Our world
