Two Years

Location

Four.
Freshman year.
How many minutes, hours, minutes, hours, days,
Would it take for the year to be over.
Every minute, second, hour, minute, day.
Days, weeks, months, weeks, months,
Years.
Holy shit it will be four more years from this point.
Four more anxious January's with the screams of the new year
Four more melancholic February's with a nobody I fear
Four more gravitating March's in my growing age
Four more desperate April's where everyone's in a rage
Four more humid May's trapped in space where we can freely roam
But Four more terrifying June's where I have to like being home
Four more sweaty July's where the sun is on high
And four more sunset August's with a summers goodbye.
Four more Septembers,
Octobers,
Novembers,
Decembers.
Four more years and months weeks days weeks months weeks,
Years.
Three more years,
Two more years,
One more year,
Six months,
Five, four, three, two
Four weeks. Four days,
24 hours,
Stop.
A ringing in my ears continues,
The day is over, we are here.
We made it.

Two.
Junior year.
A halfway point between falling back and going forward,
There is no standing still here.
We are in the eye of the storm,
We might never see the end to.
A ringing in my ears continues,
It is the afternoon.
We might just make it.
We might just make it out alive.

We might just taste the bliss on our parched tongues

We can almost stop counting

24 months.

104 weeks.

Weeks months weeks months years.

two

more

years

The clock stops,

The timer beeps.

It is the first day  of a brand new set of numbers

Time goes slower,

The minutes mean less in weight,

Times clutch on our wrists loosen.

We are bruised but damn have we ever felt more beautiful.
