Two Words

Two words,

Two menacing, little words.

Two words to define a year,

No,

A decade,

No,

A life up to this point.

Two words that morph time

Into distorted image,

That race through living rooms

at midnight,

That make you live like you’re an apology.

Two words that can mean

something else entirely,

That write themselves

Over friendships and

Family meal times.

Two words

That command a room,

But only if you’re the only person in it.
