Two Hearts

Two hearts beating at a single pace,

One heart accelerates, one heart waits.

Their home disheveled, all hope crumbles to the ground down low,

Where the debris falls, they do not know.

Two hearts beating at a single pace,

A heart of an infant, much out of its place.

Scared and alone, without a home,

Wanting his mother, his tears are shown.

Two hearts beating at a single pace,

The infant desperately cries, but his mother is without a trace.

"Mother!" he cries, with all his might.

His home is engulfed, he is filled with fright.

Two hearts beating at a single pace.

The infant hears a faint cry from far away.

He could recognize the innocence anywhere,

His mother's voice of pain, a noise he cannot bear.

Two hearts beating to find each other,

One is fighting to stay alive, the other looking for his brother.

"Mama!" He cries, "My brother is dead!"

Those little words were all that were needed to be said.

One heart beating all by itself,

In a hopeles race to find another heart beneath tumbled shelves.

Finally, it strikes the little infant who falls,

His mother is not breathing; she is not answering his calls.

"Mama!" the infant grows grantic, crying to the sky.

Tears again start forming beneath his eyes.

Like a fallen angel his mother stops breathing, her life begins to cease.

The boy smiles a bittersweet smile, knowing she is resting in peace.

One heart beats at a single pace,

Two family members lost, something horrible to face.

With just one disaster, his mother is gone, his brother is dead.

Curled up in a corner, "Please help my loved ones Lord," he said.
