The Truth
Location
There's a story about two siblings
An older brother and younger sister
Born nine years apart, so much differing
The truth can be oh so bitter.
These two show their love
In crazy, outlandish ways
But never to each other because
The truth is fragile, it frays.
They both hold no father at heart
They both love animals and so much more
But focusing on their differences keeps them apart
The truth is a steady, horrid eye sore.
But the brother has grown and left
He has found a new life, a new wife
The sister feels a victim of theft
The truth is like a steely knife.
It pains her to be home all alone
It pains her to see him happy and gone
Just as she feels safe she is suddenly thrown
The truth can hit hard, the truth can hit home.
And she has no clue his thoughts or mind
She never got to know him, never took the time
She ponders at him, at what she'd find
The truth brings up pain, it's more like a crime.
Back to the brother, he's secretly proud
At what she's become, strong as a tree
Rooted to the ground, passionate, loud
The truth is much better when it's set free.
He was put through her trials, once upon a time
And admires how she struggles without question
It hurts only that without him she's fine
The truth is confusing with no true direction.
And here's the truth within the truth
I am the sister still lost without him
I couldn't know his mind unless it was defined
And he couldn't see we were both victims
The truth is I love him, and the culprit was pride.
So I stand here today still prideful but better
To tell our story which is longer than a few stanzas
But the point is here no matter the measure
Tell the truth, express your love, take the advantage.
