True You

They know your face
They know your name
But they don't know who you are
They don't know your hopes
They don't know your dreams
But they think they've got it down
You're the talk of the school
The highlight of conversation
They know all of the things that you do
They don't ask you themselves
They believe what they choose
They don't care to hear the truth
They see what they see
And hear what they hear
But it will never be from you
They don't give you the time
Or the light of day
To show them this person
To show them it's you
