True Courage

Location

They Tell Me I'm Brave

Because I argue with the teachers

When I know they're wrong

They Tell Me I'm Caring

Because I always stand for those

Who'll never be strong

They Tell Me I'm Courageous

Because I hit the big linebacker

When he made that freshman cry

They Tell Me I'm Daring

When I drive 90 down a road

In my vain attempt to fly

But They Call Her She's Weak

For the dull pink marks on her arm

Yet, she never tries to hide them.

They Tell Her She's Stupid

When she tries to explain

Excatly what they come from

They Tell Her She's A Coward

Everytime they see the freshly placed

Thin pink line on her left wrist

I'd Tell Her That I Love Her

But she'd never believe a word I said

Even if I showed her what the others missed

They Call Me A Coward

If they ever saw what's under my sleeve

The horrors that stay behind doors that stay shut

They Called Her A Coward

And now I'll never get to tell her the truth

Because last night she made the final cut
