The Treasure of Life

In younger years, it makes kids scream “Ew,”
But that is only because it is just so new,

Little do they know, they’ve been experiencing it all along,
Haven’t they ever heard their parents sing them a song?

Girls seem to want it faster than boys do,
Though I really don’t know why this is true,

It’s seen in the puppy with big brown eyes,
Who just won’t stop licking her owner when she cries,

It’s felt between friends all the time,
A mix of laughter and silly little mimes,

It’s the nagging of “Put your seatbelt on,”
Even when nobody is out at the crack of dawn,

Sometimes it seems annoying,
Sometimes it is hidden,
Sometimes it hurts us.

But love?
Love builds us up and pulls us closer to each other.
Love saves people.
Love is what makes life worth living.
