A Treacherous Beauty
Return to me, O land of hearthstone tales!
Come back, I sing your name. For gone are days
Of yore when knights and fools alike prevail
Against wizards and dragons, led astray
By promises of fame and fortune. Lost
To chaos, fae courts dance beneath the stars
No more and ice queens wrought in starlit frost
Enchant in bedrooms only. From afar,
Their voices echo, distantly as dreams
Between the thresh of sleep and wakefulness.
But now, the danger lies in this: they seem
To call as Sirens do, to curse and bless
A life like theirs and tempt with honeyed words,
To stay a spell, a life for gifts conferred.
