Trayvon

Skittles

Arizona

Hoodie

A young black man with a hood on to cover his thoughts and emotions

Skittles and an Arizona; food for thought

Walking through the night with no harm intended

Gun

White Skin

Racist

A man blinded by the mask of racism

Seeing a young black man walking down the street

Hoodie on so that means trouble

Young and black

So that automatically means trouble in the white man's eyes

"He has on a hoodie so he's a hoodlum

It's dark and he's out so that means danger

Let me get my gun and solve this imaginary problem"

Cocks gun, walks into the night

Right up to the black boy, with his eyes full of fright

Defending himself he attacks him

Then in the blackness of the night with the streetlights dim

He shoots the young boy and ends his life

Trayvon Martin, seventeen years old

George Zimmerman with his gun so bold

Ends this poor child's hopes and dreams

Lying, covering up his pain and screams

Years go by and the case is still being investigated

Mr. and Mrs. Martin hurt and devastated

Waiting to hear if their Trayvon would have justice

Zimmerman got away

He's supposed to be locked up, not free today

We know Trayvon was innocent

There's no doubt about it

Justice will soon be brought

In this case, the white man gets away with everything was taught
