Touching calm

If we can only touch the calm within ourselves
For just a moment
The world would surely change
1 mindful second at a time

If we could see the kingdom of God
That lives inside our hearts
Happiness would liberate us
Like a fly released from the confines of a thread-like woven web

If we could change the world one heartfelt smile at a time
We would only commit to kindness
Like a bird takes to the air

if we would transcend pain one breath at a time
We could live without prejudice
And allow ourselves to just exist the way we are

If we would love an unlovable
By feeling them with our hearts
We would reap rewards unimaginable
Lake bees busily collecting liberation of life-giving nectar

If we would feed the poor
From the abundance of our souls
They would emerge from their cocoons
And fly into the Sea of tranquility
As a newlywed butterfly takes to the air
Flapping flippantly to and fro
With a newfound inner Glow
