Tired Eyes

I want to sleep but my body won't let me,

The terrible dreams and the terrible memories.

The kids stand around me,

Laughing at my clothes and laughing at my hair.

I feel so tired but my eyes won't close,

The words they keep saying make me want to fly away.

My eyes are swollen and red,

Tiny puddles of tears lie beneath my freckles chin.

Sleep doesn't like me and I don't like staying awake,

The more they talk the more I hurt,

I just want it to all stop and have them leave me alone.

Please somebody, just let me sleep.

I'm tired...can't you see?
