That Time

Staring out the window, my mind in blank.

I felt numb, hollow, crushed, and heavy.

At school, my smile was too cheerful.

No one noticed.

I started to lose my appetite.

No one noticed.

Slowly I slip away.

Now I am here, waiting and hoping.

For a sliver of light.

Darkness encloses me.

With welcoming arms, I give up and rush to it.
