Tidal Waves

Tidal waves greet me on the misty ocean shore

Years have passed since I have last been here

We didn't recognize each other

Nor did we recognize the looming darkness

 Blanketing the thick air

Fear struck into our hearts

In that moment, we jumped

We jumped headfirst into the tide that threatened to swallow us whole and never return us

Time passed long before the dark left the shore

All that was left were the tidal waves

Taking in the sand with each motion

Capturing the hearts of the innocent

And swallowing those ready to lose themselves to the steady flow

Or the dangerous whirlpool that lie before them

Because in the end, those who jumped, ended up alone anyway
