Through the Looking Glass

When I watch you

thoughts calculating like an abacus

thinking, examining an unknown world

and classifying it as "lost"

I cry.

When I watch you

lips pursed like a padlock

containing secrets that have gathered dust

from sitting, untouched

I cry.

When I watch you

hands clenched

containing a raging storm

that has ripped your thoughts apart

and torn your hair from its roots

leaving nothing but barren thoughts

I cry.

When I watch you rivers carved into your cheeks

hills rolling between your eyebrows

canyons eroded from your heart

I cry.

When I watch you

you look back at me

and cry.
