Such a simple word yet so complex

A beautiful thing created by God yet used and abused in so many ways

Could be an expression of love or a lustful mistake

A trigger of feelings and emotions you may never have felt

Could be excitement and passion or a lingering cloud of guilt

 

To some it’s no big deal

They don’t even think twice

But to others it can be a life changing choice

 

So much can happen in those few short moments

Attachment

Disease

Regret

Emotions

Not to mention you could create an entire new person

 

Is it worth it?

Is it worth risking your morals?

Your values?

Your future?

Your dignity?

 

The pressure from the world around you can seem so strong

The contemplation in your head goes on and on

The thoughts and actions of your peers weigh you down, until you finally give in

You can pretend all you want but you know deep down, this was not the right decision

Now you feel stuck but you want to do right

Now you’re feeling trapped in this way of life

This continuous cycle of fake love and heartbreak

The temptation’s overpowering but you’ve got so much at steak

And when you want out, like a drug it pulls you in

Now you’re stuck in a lifestyle you never imagined

And be free

Be the person your parents raised you to be

Be the person God intended you to be

Be the person that you know you can be

Rise above and be an example

Be the person others strive to be
