Threat to the System

In the words of my favorite wrestler ACH,
"They say you can be anything;
they don't tell you to be yourself"
With poetry, I can accomplish both
"Ash, get lost in your thoughts!"
Writing words is a relief
My pen taught me how to speak
People think it is cute to act mute
The same ones with no voice try to muffle my noise
So is life as I move past the strife
My "hood" tries to stifle me
"Authority" libels me
as a troublemaker
Why? Is it because I have a message?
A seventeen year-old threat to the system
I just did not realize anyone was listening
Poetry saved me
My words made me
Carpe diem on the notepad
My legacy is brazen
Look it up in the record books
The syntax sends shock waves
as my Brooklyn flag waves
