Thoughts On My Future

What’s in my head?

Why can’t I be dead?

Who said I shouldn’t dread

A future that led

To bright things, they said

Why do I bother

To keep it together?

I mean, my cousin gave up altogether

Look how it’s going for her.

I could weep

Give up on upkeep

Do nothing but sleep

But what would I reap?

I might not have too much to show.

But if I don’t bother, it’s still a no-go

What do I know?

For them, I might not be too slow

I mean, they’ve seen worse

Maybe I do have some talent to nurse

I must have something good to bring to the universe.
